Date Night: Romance at the Zoo

Taking Alone Time
What makes the zoo such a great date spot? Perhaps it’s the wide variety of entertainment, the relaxing ambiance, the abundance of conversation pieces, and the plenty of opportunities for intimate moments. Have a day full of fun and romance with the one you love on your arm.

Romance in the Zoo

  • Hold hands as you walk through the exhibits.
  • Sneak a kiss in the romantic glow of an underground aquarium.
  • Count how many animal couples “do it” right in front of you!
  • Take photos of each other imitating the animals you pose next to.
  • Share childhood zoo memories as you ride the train or trolley through the zoo.
  • Find out your date’s favorite zoo animals and why. It’s a great way to get insight into their values.
  • Take frequent breaks to sit and enjoy the scene and snuggle up.
  • Watch one of the special shows while sipping on a glass of wine or cool lemonade.
  • Kiss in the aviary or butterfly sanctuary while they flutter all around you.
  • Find a comfy spot in the shade to sit and watch some of the more animated species like chimpanzees, otters, penguins and bears, imagining what they might be thinking.
  • Catch the special shows they have all around the zoo.
  • Have a picnic. Packing a full picnic around the zoo might not be so much fun, but packing a light snack or purchasing lunch from one of the many dining venues around the zoo.
  • Sport funny zoo animal visors.
  • Buy each other sweet zoo souvenirs.
  • Get sweet treats like ice-cream, snow cones, sweet fresh pretzels or doughnuts to snack on while you tour the zoo.
  • Take a nice relaxing rest on a grassy knoll.

Tips

  • Check the zoo website for special events like adults only days or holiday special events.
  • If the zoo is a drive for you, make a weekend out of it. Search online for tourist packages with discount hotel stays and passes for multiple attractions.
  • Pack a “zoo bag” small enough so that it isn’t an inconvenience, but large enough to carry the essentials: sun block, bottled water and a camera
